Open Question: Should the Government tell Catholic Church that it must report it's pedophiles to them or is that over reach?

Apparently many Republicans didn't get the message that there are limits to what a religion can do. Just ask Mitt Romney, when the Government made polygamy illegal his family fled to Mexico...was that the Government trying to kill religion? I think not. If a church or religious group called for a virgin sacrifice would that be ok? We are a country of laws and even the Church is not exempt. Should the Govermnent force the Catholic Church to hand over all reports of child molestation to them? Do those state laws that say they must report pedophile infringe on their religion?...
